Built on 21st June 1994, this
vehicle was one of the first of the second
generation Range Rovers (the P38), but it was not
registered until 13th October 1994 when it became
one of Land Rovers "Police Demonstrator" vehicles
known as "Pegasus".
The vehicle was subsequently sold to the
Metropolitan Police on 19th March 1997 and was
attached to the Special Escort Group which provides
both overt and covert escorts to Royalty, high
profile members of Government and visiting heads of
The vehicles most high profile task was carried out
on 6th September 1997 when it was one of the escort
vehicles at the funeral of Princess Diana, escorting
her hearse from Westminster Abbey to the family
estate at Althorp, Northamptonshire.
